My name is Drew Bessette and I am currently a senior here at Rice Memorial High School. I have attended Rice all 4 years of high school and previously attended St. Francis Xavier School. Next Fall I am excited to announce that I will be joining the men's UVM basketball team and attending UVM.
As I move into my last year of high school, I have reflected on several things. Some of the strongest values that I strive to demonstrate in all aspects of my life everyday. One of those values that is extremely important to me is community. I have always had a love for basketball and helping others.
For my senior CSL project I wanted to give back to not only my Rice community, but all of the surrounding communities, especially middle school students who share the same love of basketball that I do.
I thought to myself, how can I possibly influence surrounding youth to embrace their passion for basketball? Then I thought I could do this by leading by example and offering a FREE two weekend clinic to all that are looking to improve their game before their try-outs this Fall.
I didn't realize until most recently that we as high school student athletes are sometimes looked up to, and we must demonstrate high standards of ourselves at all times. That means both on and off the court. I would like to share some of these characteristics with the middle school students as well as help them to believe in themselves and their skills.
I look forward to making this experience a good one for all who decide to attend.
I have designed t-shirts to give to the first 20 students who sign up for the clinic.
