To graduate, every Rice student must accumulate a minimum of 24 credits. These credits must include the following:

| Foreign Language | 2 credits (of the same language) |
| Fine Arts | 1 credit |
| Physical Education** | 1 credit |
| Health*** | .5 credit |
*All students, regardless of faith, take a Religion course each year they attend Rice. Freshmen: Scripture, Sophomores: Catholic Faith and Sacraments, Juniors: Morality and Social Justice, Seniors: Catholicism Today, Honors Philosophy, or World Religion
**Rice does not offer Physical Education classes. Credit is earned by participation in athletics, an active gym membership, and/or demonstrated wellness activities.
***All students are required to take a half credit of Health. Rice offers an online health course for students and transfers who need to fulfill this requirement.
