9th Grade Families complete the Parent Request Form as part of the enrollment process, you're welcome to discuss any changes or questions with [email protected]. Course placement is sent out in early June.
Returning Students meet with their school counselor in March/April to select courses for the upcoming year.

Your student’s schedule, assignments, grades, and other resources will be available to you via the MyRice Portal. This is the same system used for the application, and parents will use the same login information. Students can gain access once they have activated their Rice email account.
We have two uniform vendors: Land’s End and Tommy Hilfiger. Direct links are available on the Uniform Store page of our website. Orders typically take 3-4 weeks to come in.

Students are allowed to wear a top from the Rice Gear Store on Fridays. All sports teams have a special gear store once the season starts and many students choose to wear a top representing their team.
Students will need their own personal laptop. PC and Mac are both fine. Students will also need a supply of pens, pencils, and notebooks. Students may receive a specific list of supplies from their teachers during the first few days of school. View the Current Supply List
Summer & School Year Reading: TBD for the 26-27 School Year - we ask all students to read a book, then kick off the school year with a school-wide celebration tied to the book’s theme. Certain classes have additional summer reading. Some classes have also identified books that students will read during the school year. View the 25-26 Reading List

Thanksgiving Vacation: Wednesday, 11/25/26 - Sunday, 11/29/26. Dorms are OPEN. Residential students can choose to leave campus or stay in the dorm. For students that choose to stay, the cost is $60/ day, which includes meals and some activities.
Christmas Vacation - Dorms will be closed from 12/20/26-1/1/27, all Residential students are required to leave campus. Students may begin travel after school on Friday, 12/18/26. All Students who are flying must depart no later than December 19th. Dorms will reopen on January 2nd, 2027.

JOIN A TEAM! We understand and appreciate the importance of athletics in the overall education of our student-athletes. Students consistently tell us how joining a sport helped them make friends.
International & Res Life Students are required to participate in a sport or club each season while at Rice, many local students opt to participate. Sports Registration opens July 1 for the upcoming academic year. All sports registration is completed through a student athlete’s PRIVIT profile. Visit this page for step-by-step instructions on how to set up a student profile and join a team.
STUDENT LIFE We have many school traditions, special events, class field trips, and exciting opportunities for our students. All those details are communicated in a weekly school newsletter which you’ll start to receive in late August. All students living in our residence hall are required to participate in Stunt Nite, our students' favorite tradition. Every year, Stunt Nite happens on the Tuesday prior to Thanksgiving.
CLUB FAIR At the beginning of the school year, we hold a club fair where students can browse different clubs or choose to start something new. We have over 40 clubs for students to choose from, some topics include: Chess Club, Robotics, Drama, Digital Media, International Club, Pickleball, Flag Football, Competitive Cards Club, and so many more! Once/month students have the opportunity to meet with clubs during the school day. View Club Options
We hold ourselves to high standards at Rice believing qualities like timeliness, respect, adherence to deadlines, proper technology use, and professional appearance are important for the learning environment. Our school handbook is a list of school policies and procedures, an updated version will be released in August and will be available on the MyRice portal. To find it login to MyRice, select the resources tab, and click the Parent/Student Handbook. You'll be asked to electronically sign the signature page at the start of the school year.
Similarly, our Residential Life Handbook will outline the policies and procedures specific to students living in our dorms. That link and signature page will also be available in the MyRice portal late summer.
Parents and students will receive a weekly newsletter starting about mid-August. This lists upcoming events and opportunities at the school. You can access previous newsletters on the "communication hub" resource board in the MyRice portal. Information about the emergency access system and meal accounts will be available at the start of the school year.
