Financial Assistance

About $850,000 in financial assistance is awarded to students each year based on need. Rice uses a third party, Smart Tuition Management System, to evaluate eligibility in order to administer financial assistance objectively and with consistency.  Many factors are considered when evaluating financial need including income, size of family, assets/liabilities, and living expenses.  Applicants are notified by mid-April of the award decision.

Students enrolling for the 2025-26 academic year and requesting tuition assistance must submit a completed application to Smart Tuition Management System with a $50 application fee. Applications for the 2026-2027 school year open on 11/7/25.

Rice is committed to providing this support to families like yours, but depend on several funding sources to make it happen.

• Chittenden County parishes provide a portion of their collections to support financial aid.
• Donations made to the Rice-Cathedral Annual Fund, specifically the Inspire a Life program.
• Funds raised at our annual Rice-Cathedral Alumni Association Golf Tournament.
• Scholarships, many established by generous families to memorialize a deceased loved one. Those scholarships are listed below.
