I enjoy teachng Morality and Social Justice because each year different students approach the issues in unique ways that I have not thought of before. There are constant opportunities to grow as an educator.

I choose to teach at Rice because: teaching at Rice allows me to explore social issues with students at a deeper level and through a lens of faith.

What is your favorite thing about your job? Learning from the students

If you had an unexpected afternoon off, what would you do with your time? Ski, mountain bike or fish with my family

Best vacation/trip you’ve ever been on: Thru hiking the Appalachian Trail

Favorite tradition/fieldtrip/project you do in your classroom each school year: Variations of the Examen Prayer in our daily journals

Favorite Rice tradition or event: Senior Exit Interviews

If a prospective family asked you “why should I send my student to Rice,” what would you say? At its best, Rice can be more of a family than a school to students which can be so helpful given the pressures, struggles and disconnect that students face today.
