Get to Know Her:

I enjoy teachng Mathematics because its real-life applications are endless!  Not only does Mathematics help us to understand the world around us, the probleming solving and reasoning skills that go hand-in-hand help to develop the potential of our minds and when will there ever be a day in our lives where we are not required to think?! 

I choose to teach at Rice because: Catholic education has played a vital role in my life and I truly believe that the balance of academics and faith in a community setting, provides a meaningful experience for students.

What is your favorite thing about your job? Working and mentoring amazing students and collaborating with my colleagues.  Rice represents a second family for me.

If you had an unexpected afternoon off, what would you do with your time? SPA Day!  I am all for self-care and being pampered, but unfortunately I can never find the time outside of work and family life.  

Best vacation/trip you’ve ever been on: Italy. I’ve visited several times and there’s still so much more that I want to explore in that country.  The culture, the people, their spirituality, the architecture and landscape, the FOOD, I could go on… it’s all incredible and I am thankful I’ve had the opportunity to experience it.

Favorite tradition/fieldtrip/project you do in your classroom each school year: Any project that provides my students with a new perspective and appreciation of the subject.  In Geometry, it’s deductive reasoning proofs.  The students hate them at first but after a semester of practice and persistence, the light bulbs start to turn on and by the end of the year the students are developing their own proofs and feel accomplished that they were able to tackle something challenging with ease.

Favorite Rice tradition or event: STUNT NITE!  I’m blown away every year by the talent of our students.  It really is a great production.  We also have fun and exciting pep rallies.

Favorite Rice Sports Team to watch: I enjoy watching all of our student athletes as well. I have yet to attend a ski race so that is my goal for this season.

Favorite Professional Sports Team or Athlete: All Philadelphia sports teams!  

If a prospective family asked you “why should I send my student to Rice,” what would you say? 
Rice offers something for everyone.  Rice is a place where every student can grow and shine in their own way.  Rice encourages students to work hard, put their best foot forward, be proud of their accomplishments, and discover their potential.

Anything else you'd like to say? I am a Mom of two, an avid foodie who loves to cook as much as I love to eat, and a former competitive swimmer who loves all things involving water.
