Ms. Fischer entered the education field as an academic coach at a college support program for neurodiverse students. Then she returned to her studies, and graduated with a Master of Arts in English at UVM, where she also worked as a writing consultant at the Graduate Writing Center. For the past three years she's been working at Mater Christi School, first as a writing specialist and then as the middle school English teacher. We're excited to have her here at Rice!

I enjoy teaching English because: I love to share my passion for reading and writing with students, and feel lucky to get to know students on a deeper level by connecting with them through their writing.
I choose to teach at Rice because: I like to work in an environment where students are held to high standards in both academics and personal development.
What is your favorite thing about your job? Reading student writing and vibrant class discussion.
If you had an unexpected afternoon off, what would you do with your time? Work in my garden, play soccer, or read!
Best vacation/trip you’ve ever been on: Backpacking through Southeast Asia for a month after college with two friends.
