It is with immense pride that we announce Jake Broe as the Valedictorian of the Class of 2026! This accomplishment reflects not only extraordinary academic achievement but also the authenticity, work ethic, and individuality that have defined his time at Rice. During his four years here, Jake completed twelve AP courses, consistently demonstrating intellectual curiosity and a deep commitment to learning. Twice, Jake earned the Magna Cum Laude Certificate on the National Latin exam for his outstanding performance.

Jake’s strong work ethic extends well beyond the classroom. He has worked as a law clerk, carefully reviewing and organizing legal files with impressive attention to detail. He is also an avid outdoorsman, someone who feels as at home in nature as he does in an academic setting. He taps maple trees in Waterville each spring and spends summers mowing lawns and landscaping, never shying away from hard physical work. He is also a founding member and co-captain of Rice’s Bass Fishing Team.

Perhaps most telling is Jake’s commitment to family and community. He regularly volunteers at the local nursing home where his grandmother lives, helping organize events and run Bingo nights that bring warmth and laughter to residents.

Jake plans to continue his education at Clarkson University this fall, where he will study mechanical engineering.

Congratulations to Madeleine “Maggie” Robinson on being named the Salutatorian for the class of 2026! Maggie is an exceptional student and athlete who embodies the mission of Rice with her dedication to learning and commitment to serving others. Maggie has completed an impressive 9 Advanced Placement and 10 honors courses! Maggie possesses a rare natural intelligence, with an exceptional ability to grasp, interpret, and apply knowledge with both depth and understanding. Alongside her academics, she has also been an integral member of our field hockey and lacrosse teams.

In addition to excelling in the classroom, Maggie has made a real difference in the greater community. She has volunteered for many organizations including the Alzheimer’s Association and the American Cancer Society. That said, what truly sets Maggie apart is her character. She is the type of student who quietly makes the world better; she is living proof that not all superheroes wear capes. This is a young person who is dedicated to helping others through her intelligence, empathy, and love of science and medicine. She plans to continue her education at Haverford College next year.

As the oldest of five children, Maggie has succeeded in more ways than most students, and set a remarkable example for her siblings, peers, and everyone within her sphere. We are so proud of you, Maggie and look forward to seeing all that you accomplish in the future!
