Lucy is a critical part of the Advancement Team and she works on Special Events and Alumni Engagement! While her efforts are concentrated on the many ongoing projects and relationships that make up the Advancement efforts at Rice, she also helps out with lots of Rice’s school events for students, parents, and potential families.

• St. Lawrence University, BA Communications + played field hockey
• St. Lawrence University, MA Leadership + assistant coach of field hockey program
• Started at Rice in 2024
• Lucy assists with Varsity Field Hockey team (and loves it!) As someone who picked up a stick for the first time at Rice in Fall 2015 with JV field hockey, it’s very exciting to have this experience and continue to grow the program. It’s also so fun to watch the student-athletes develop skills on and off the field as players and people.

I choose to work at Rice because: It’s an amazing opportunity to support a mission I lived as a student and still value, and to work alongside such a forward-thinking group of dedicated faculty and staff. 

What is your favorite thing about your job? I really enjoy connecting with alumni who understand what makes Rice unique and credit the formative education experience for their success beyond high school.

If you had an unexpected afternoon off, what would you do with your time? I would take a walk, play with my cat Boots, read a book, or call a friend!

Best vacation/trip you’ve ever been on: Studying in New Zealand for a semester.

Favorite Rice tradition or event: Stunt Nite & Pep Rallies

If a prospective family asked you “why should I send my student to Rice”? What would you say? 
I would recommend attending Rice for a lot of reasons… a few would be small class sizes, competitive athletics, the diverse student body, and lifelong connections.
