I enjoy teaching AP Calculus a lot since it challenges students to think about math in new and exciting ways. I also enjoy teaching AP Statistics for all the real world data we use throughout the year.
I choose to teach at Rice because: I choose to teach at Rice because of the great atmosphere students bring to the community, and all our dedicated faculty & staff!
What is your favorite thing about your job? My favorite thing about my job is witnessing the positive impact so many of these students have on the Rice community over their 4 years here. It is amazing to see them accomplish so much whether it is another state championship or recognized for their academic achievement!
If you had an unexpected afternoon off, what would you do with your time? With an afternoon off I would definitely spend it mountain biking with my 2 dogs or hanging out with my son Austin!
Best vacation/trip you’ve ever been on: Pacific Northwest vacation. Driving up the west coast and stopping in beautiful places like Seattle and Squamish was a dream!
Favorite tradition/fieldtrip/project you do in your classroom each school year: Our annual Mario Kart Tournament my AP classes participate in after their AP Exams.
Favorite Rice tradition or event: The pep-rally, and the best part of it is playing dodgeball against the students!
Favorite Rice Sports Team to watch: Ultimate Frisbee

If a prospective family asked you “why should I send my student to Rice,” what would you say?
You should send your student to Rice because of the amazing teachers that dedicate their time before, during, and after school to make sure students work up to their full potential!
